Census results

In 2024, 82% of Australian Financial Security Authority (AFSA) employees completed the APS Employee Census (Census).

The Census provides an assessment of our agency’s performance across 5 key indicators:

employee engagement

  • wellbeing
  • innovation
  • leadership
  • communication.

Our 2024 results show that we are in a period of transition. We are focusing on strengthening our regulatory stewardship and ensuring our agency delivers outcomes to the Australian community. We are working to strengthen our foundations to boost our regulatory capacity and capability.

Our people

Our people are our greatest strength and key drivers for change. We recognise and celebrate this. Our people enable us to meet our regulatory responsibilities, deliver services to the Australian community, and achieve positive social and economic outcomes.

Together, we are working to build an empowered, capable and inclusive workforce. Our program of 'people initiatives' aims to embed a learning, inclusive and professionally curious culture where people are supported and encouraged to learn.

What we heard

Through our 2024 Census results and action planning process, we heard the priorities for our people are to:

  • strengthen how we communicate with each other to enhance visibility, understanding and awareness of AFSA's priorities
  • actively participate in changes that occur across the agency to inform solutions and implement them effectively
  • improve collaboration between work areas to foster stronger relationships and knowledge sharing across divisions
  • optimise workload management through better planning and prioritisation
  • invest in capability and opportunities for connection and collaboration.

Our Action Plan

Our Census Action Plan reflects where we are at in our transition. It outlines our focus areas that will strengthen our organisational health, position us to deliver on our strategic priorities and grow a highly engaged and effective workforce.
