PPSR searches

There were 2,610,233 searches conducted on the PPSR in the March quarter 2021. This was an increase of 5.5% compared to the March quarter 2020, when there were 2,474,801 searches on the PPSR.

Motor vehicle searches by serial number were the most common type in the March quarter 2021. They accounted for 52.7% of searches.

PPSR registrations

There were 446,012 registrations created on the PPSR in the March quarter 2021. This number fell by 6.1% compared to the March quarter 2020, when there were 475,199 registrations created.

The number of registrations created in the March quarter 2021 fell by 8.7% compared to the December quarter 2020.

In the March quarter 2021, there were 540,495 amendments to registrations on the PPSR. There were 398,581 registrations discharged or removed from the PPSR.

At 31 March 2021, there were 10,015,612 current registrations on the PPSR. Motor vehicle was the most common collateral class with 4,689,585 registrations. This was 46.8% of total current registrations.

Commercial property was the most common type of collateral. At 31 March 2021, 7,740,957 current registrations on the PPSR were of this collateral type. This was 77.3% of total current registrations.
