Personal Property Securities Register (PPSR) statistics for the June quarter 2021
PPSR activity at a glance
PPSR searches
There were 2,852,226 searches conducted on the PPSR in the June quarter 2021. This was an increase of 15.2% compared to the June quarter 2020, when there were 2,476,936 searches on the PPSR.
Motor vehicle searches by serial number were the most common type in the June quarter 2021. They accounted for 48.7% of searches.
In 2020–21, there were 10,559,168 searches conducted on the PPSR. This was an increase of 6.1% compared to 2019–20, where there were 9,950,711 searches on the PPSR. Motor vehicle searches by serial number accounted for 51.4% of searches in 2020–21.
PPSR registrations
There were 519,954 registrations created on the PPSR in the June quarter 2021. This number rose by 11.5% compared to the June quarter 2020, when there were 466,380 registrations created.
The number of registrations created in the June quarter 2021 rose by 16.6% compared to the March quarter 2021.
In 2020–21, there were 1,910,365 registrations created on the PPSR. This was a decrease of 2.9% compared to 2019–20, where there were 1,967,515 registrations created.
In the June quarter 2021, there were 278,053 amendments to registrations on the PPSR. There were 390,099 registrations discharged or removed from the PPSR.
At 30 June 2021, there were 10,068,849 current registrations on the PPSR. Motor vehicle was the most common collateral class with 4,708,049 registrations. This was 46.8% of total current registrations.
Commercial property was the most common type of collateral. At 30 June 2021, 7,805,594 current registrations on the PPSR were of this collateral type. This was 77.5% of total current registrations.
