PPSR searches

There were 2,476,936 searches conducted on the PPSR in the June quarter 2020. This was a decrease of 0.4% compared to the June quarter 2019, when there were 2,485,719 searches on the PPSR.

Motor vehicle searches by serial number were the most common type in the June quarter 2020. They accounted for 53.8% of searches.

In 2019–20, there were 9,950,711 searches conducted on the PPSR. This was an increase of 3.4% compared to 2018–19, where there were 9,627,178 searches on the PPSR. Motor vehicle searches by serial number accounted for 52.8% of searches in 2019–20.

PPSR registrations

There were 466,380 registrations created on the PPSR in the June quarter 2020. This number fell by 10.0% compared to the June quarter 2019, when there were 518,334 registrations created.

The number of registrations created in the June quarter 2020 fell by 1.9% compared to the March quarter 2020.

In 2019–20, there were 1,967,515 registrations created on the PPSR. This was a decrease of 3.6% compared to 2018–19, where there were 2,041,388 registrations created.

In the June quarter 2020, there were 388,360 amendments to registrations on the PPSR, and 418,568 registrations discharged or removed from the PPSR.

At 30 June 2020, there were 10,139,613 current registrations on the PPSR. Motor vehicle was the most common collateral class with 4,813,611 registrations. This was 47.5% of total current registrations.

Commercial property was the most common type of collateral. At 30 June 2020, 7,776,567 current registrations on the PPSR were of this collateral type. This was 76.7% of total current registrations.
