APS5 Case Manager
Purpose of the Position
As a Case Manager, you will be responsible for managing, assessing, and investigating complex matters, undertaking the administration of estates, and delivering high-quality operational and regulatory personal insolvency services to the Australian public.
You will provide information, guidance, and support to team members, contributing to a collaborative and high-performing team environment. The role promotes a culture that values innovation, continuous improvement, and a commitment to delivering outcomes that enhance public value.
Key accountabilities
- Manage allocated matters and tasks through to completion, effectively and efficiently overseeing a caseload from initiation to case closure
- Assess, approve, and issue applications in accordance with legislation, operational practices, policies, and procedures
- Conduct complex investigations, including those involving legal matters, applying critical analysis and evidence-based decision-making
- Identify and escalate complex issues that require further investigation or higher-level decision-making
- Maintain corporate and legislative records in line with established requirements (e.g., National Personal Insolvency Index (NPII), trustee file management, and case notes)
- Prepare and generate correspondence and reports for key stakeholders, ensuring information is accurate, timely, and aligned with legal and procedural requirements
- Engage with clients and stakeholders to address enquiries of a complex or technical nature and identify matters that require escalation
- Collaborate within a team environment to achieve operational quality and quantity targets and contribute to a supportive workplace culture
- Support continuous improvement by contributing to the development and implementation of best practices and process enhancements

- AFSA’s risk management framework and relevant legislation, including guiding others to identify and mitigate foreseeable risks
Qualifications, accreditations and experience
- Tertiary qualifications in Law, Accounting, or relevant discipline from an Australian tertiary institution (or comparable overseas institution), or demonstrated equivalent experience gained within the Insolvency or Finance Industries are highly desirable.
