Statistics for the Personal Property Securities Register (PPSR) June quarter 2024 released today by the Australian Financial Security Authority (AFSA) show an increase in both searches and registrations.

PPSR searches
There were 3,416,455 searches conducted on the PPSR in the June quarter 2024. This was an increase of 6.6% compared to the June quarter 2023, when there were 3,204,914 searches on the PPSR.
Motor vehicle searches by serial number were the most common type in the June quarter 2024. They accounted for 52.9% of searches.
PPSR registrations
There were 574,679 registrations created on the PPSR in the June quarter 2024. This number rose by 2.9% compared to the June quarter 2023, when there were 558,666 registrations created.
In the June quarter 2024, there were 423,993 amendments to registrations on the PPSR. There were 431,313 registrations discharged or removed from the PPSR.
At 30 June 2024, there were 10,481,235 current registrations on the PPSR. Motor vehicle was the most common collateral class with 4,929,908 registrations. This was 47.0% of total current registrations.
Commercial property was the most common type of collateral. At 30 June 2024, 8,310,102 current registrations on the PPSR were of this collateral type. This was 79.3% of total current registrations.
