PPSR searches

There were 2,549,589 searches conducted on the PPSR in the December quarter 2020. This was an increase of 3.4% compared to the December quarter 2019, when there were 2,466,599 searches on the PPSR.

Motor vehicle searches by serial number were the most common type in the December quarter 2020. They accounted for 51.5% of searches.

PPSR registrations

There were 488,256 registrations created on the PPSR in the December quarter 2020. This number fell by 4.1% compared to the December quarter 2019, when there were 509,316 registrations created.

The number of registrations created in the December quarter 2020 rose by 7.0% compared to the September quarter 2020.

In the December quarter 2020, there were 409,704 amendments to registrations on the PPSR. There were 374,349 registrations discharged or removed from the PPSR.

At 31 December 2020, there were 10,073,238 current registrations on the PPSR. Motor vehicle was the most common collateral class with 4,720,757 registrations. This was 46.9% of total current registrations.

Commercial property was the most common type of collateral. At 31 December 2020, 7,785,006 current registrations on the PPSR were of this collateral type. This was 77.3% of total current registrations.
