Event overview
Building on the momentum of previous Summits, the AFSA Summit returns in 2026 with a focus on future ready stewardship and how it can deliver practical, real-world outcomes across the credit and insolvency systems.
Now in its fourth year, the Summit will bring together stakeholders from across personal insolvency, restructuring, credit, regulation, policy, industry and the professional community. The event provides an opportunity to connect, build knowledge, share insights and contribute to a forward-looking conversation about trust, resilience and integrity.
Amid economic volatility, accelerating artificial intelligence, demographic shifts and global shocks, the question for system leaders is no longer just how to comply. It is how to build systems that remain trusted, resilient and effective over time.
The 2026 Summit advances the conversation from compliance and culture to future ready stewardship. It will explore how trust, ethics and judgement can be embedded as core system capabilities, not optional extras.
This full-day event will feature expert speakers, engaging discussions and contemporary case studies from across the system. Further details, including the program and speakers, will be released closer to the event.
What the Summit will explore
Over the course of the day, the Summit will examine:
- The operating environment ahead
Economic uncertainty, household and business exposure, and confidence in institutions. - Where pressure and vulnerability concentrate
How demographics, changing employment patterns, new credit products and AI are reshaping financial exposure, and why early identification of risk matters for harm reduction. - Technology, data and trust
The role of AI, automation and system integration in modern regulation—and why stewardship at the data layer is critical to confidence in digital systems. - Stewardship in practice
How ethical judgement and proportionality are exercised when rules alone are not enough, including a case study on the PPSR and its role in supporting a resilient credit economy. - Building future capability
What skills, behaviours and collaboration are needed across regulators, practitioners and institutions to maintain trust through disruption and change.
Why it matters
Trust in the credit, insolvency and regulatory system underpins economic participation, access to finance and fair outcomes for individuals and businesses.
As systems become more complex and interconnected, resilience depends not only on laws and frameworks, but on how decisions are made, how data is managed, and how responsibility is shared across the system.
The AFSA Summit 2026 provides a forum to:
- engage directly with policymakers, regulators and sector leaders
- understand emerging risks and system pressures
- reflect on ethical leadership and system stewardship
- contribute to a forward-looking conversation about trust, resilience and integrity.
Who should attend
The Summit is designed for:
- senior leaders and practitioners in insolvency, restructuring and credit
- regulators and policymakers
- advisers and professional bodies
- industry, fintech and data specialists
- consumer and small business representatives.
