PPSR activity at a glance

PPSR searches

There were 2,547,120 searches conducted on the PPSR in the September quarter 2020. This was an increase of 0.6% compared to the September quarter 2019, when there were 2,532,375 searches on the PPSR.

Motor vehicle searches by serial number were the most common type in the September quarter 2020. They accounted for 53.1% of searches.

PPSR registrations

There were 456,143 registrations created on the PPSR in the September quarter 2020. This number fell by 11.7% compared to the September quarter 2019, when there were 516,620 registrations created.

The number of registrations created in the September quarter 2020 fell by 2.2% compared to the June quarter 2020.

In the September quarter 2020, there were 1,004,071 amendments to registrations on the PPSR; change address for service accounted for 78.9% of amendments. There were 434,300 registrations discharged or removed from the PPSR.

At 30 September 2020, there were 10,072,100 current registrations on the PPSR. Motor vehicle was the most common collateral class with 4,731,214 registrations. This was 47.0% of total current registrations.

Commercial property was the most common type of collateral. At 30 September 2020, 7,767,895 current registrations on the PPSR were of this collateral type. This was 77.1% of total current registrations.
