On 29 June 2018 at Seymour Magistrates Court, Ilija Tasevski of Heathcote Junction, Victoria, was found guilty of knowingly making a false declaration in a Statement of Affairs in relation to a shared interest in a property with his wife. This was in breach of sub-section 267(2) of the Bankruptcy Act 1966 (Cth).
Mr Tasevski pleaded guilty and His Honour Magistrate Faram convicted the accused and released him on a $5000 good behaviour bond for a period of four years.
His Honour noted that Mr Tasevski was recovering from surgery and would be unable to pay a fine or complete community work, so he matched the good behaviour bond period to the period of the extended bankruptcy.
The matter was prosecuted by Office of the Commonwealth Director of Public Prosecutions on behalf of the Australian Financial Security Authority.
