Mr Brendan Patrick Gregory Quinn of Morpeth, New South Wales, was sentenced on 29 March 2018 at Maitland Local Court, for disposing of property prior to and during bankruptcy and for making a false declaration in his Statement of Affairs.
He was convicted and ordered to perform 250 hours of community service.
Mr Quinn became bankrupt on 5 May 2014 as a result of filing a Debtor’s Petition.
Prior to becoming bankrupt, he sold his property and received proceeds of $54,948.96.
He disposed of $36,465.47 and after he became bankrupt, disposed of a further $11,094.76.
In his Statement of Affairs, Mr Quinn failed to disclose that he sold the property and failed to disclose the bank account into which the proceeds of the sale were deposited.
This matter was prosecuted by the Commonwealth Director of Public Prosecutions on behalf of the Australian Financial Security Authority.
