Personal Property Securities Register (PPSR) statistics for the September quarter 2019

PPSR activity at a glance

PPSR searches

There were 2,532,375 searches conducted on the PPSR in the September quarter 2019. This was an increase of 8.5% compared to the September quarter 2018, when there were 2,333,705 searches on the PPSR.

Searches by serial number were the most common type in the September quarter 2019. They accounted for 52.2% of searches.

PPSR registrations

There were 516,620 registrations created on the PPSR in the September quarter 2019. This number fell by 1.0% compared to the September quarter 2018, when there were 521,600 registrations created.

The number of registrations created in the September quarter 2019 fell by 0.3% compared to the June quarter 2019.

In the September quarter 2019, there were 523,830 amendments to registrations on the PPSR, and 392,723 registrations discharged or removed from the PPSR.

At 30 September 2019, there were 10,126,291 current registrations on the PPSR. Motor vehicle was the most common collateral class with 4,884,312 registrations. This was 48.2% of total current registrations.

Commercial property was the most common type of collateral. At 30 September 2019, 7,693,489 current registrations on the PPSR were of this collateral type. This was 76.0% of total current registrations.
