Personal Property Securities Register (PPSR) statistics for the March quarter 2019

PPSR activity at a glance

PPSR searches

There were 2,346,544 searches conducted on the PPSR in the March quarter 2019. This is an increase of 7.3% compared to the March quarter 2018, when there were 2,186,519 searches on the PPSR.

Searches by serial number were the most common type of search in the March quarter 2019. They accounted for 55.0% of searches.

PPSR registrations

There were 462,578 registrations created on the PPSR in the March quarter 2019. This number fell by 3.6% compared to the March quarter 2018, when there were 479,617 registrations created.

The number of registrations created in the March quarter 2019 fell by 14.2% compared to the December quarter 2018.

In the March quarter 2019, there were 516,533 amendments to registrations on the PPSR, and 358,211 registrations discharged or removed from the PPSR.

At 31 March 2019, there were 10,004,438 current registrations on the PPSR. Motor vehicle is the most common type of collateral class of registrations on the PPSR. At 31 March 2019, there were 4,857,566 current registrations on the PPSR with a motor vehicle collateral class. This was 48.6% of total current registrations.

Commercial property is the most common type of collateral. At 31 March 2019, 7,565,658 current registrations on the PPSR were of this collateral type. This was 75.6% of total current registrations.
