Personal Property Securities Register (PPSR) statistics for the September quarter 2018

PPSR activity at a glance

PPSR searches

There were 2,333,705 searches conducted on the PPSR in the September quarter 2018. This is an increase of 4.2% compared to the September quarter 2017, when there were 2,239,460 searches on the PPSR.

The number of searches conducted on the PPSR in the September quarter 2018 fell by 1.2% compared to the June quarter 2018.

PPSR registrations

At 30 September 2018, there were 10,040,452 current registrations on the PPSR. This is the highest level on record and first quarter in which current registrations have exceeded ten million.

There were 521,600 registrations created on the PPSR in the September quarter 2018. This number rose by 1.6% compared to the September quarter 2017, when there were 513,536 registrations created. The number of registrations created in the September quarter 2018 fell by 4.2% compared to the June quarter 2018.

In the September quarter 2018, there were 832,044 amendments to registrations on the PPSR, and 367,110 registrations discharged or removed.

Motor vehicle is the most common type of collateral class of registrations on the PPSR. At 30 September 2018, there were 4,871,613 current registrations on the PPSR with a motor vehicle collateral class. This was 48.5% of total current registrations.

Commercial property is the most common type of collateral. At 30 September 2018, 7,590,169 current registrations on the PPSR were this collateral type. This was 75.6% of total current registrations.
