In the September quarter 2019, bankruptcies were at their lowest level since the March quarter 1995, according to the latest personal insolvency statistics released by the Australian Financial Security Authority (AFSA).
There were 3,692 bankruptcies in the September quarter 2019, a 6.4% fall compared to the September quarter 2018. This fall means that bankruptcies were at their lowest level since the March quarter 1995. There were falls in most states and territories, with the exception of Australian Capital Territory, Northern Territory and Tasmania.
In the September quarter 2019, 24.8% of bankrupts entered a business related bankruptcy.
