Personal Property Securities Register (PPSR) statistics for the March quarter 2020

PPSR activity at a glance

PPSR searches

There were 2,474,801 searches conducted on the PPSR in the March quarter 2020. This was an increase of 5.5% compared to the March quarter 2019, when there were 2,346,544 searches on the PPSR.

Searches by serial number were the most common type in the March quarter 2020. They accounted for 54.2% of searches.

PPSR registrations

There were 475,199 registrations created on the PPSR in the March quarter 2020. This number rose by 2.7% compared to the March quarter 2019, when there were 462,578 registrations created.

The number of registrations created in the March quarter 2020 fell by 6.7% compared to the December quarter 2019.

In the March quarter 2020, there were 245,911 amendments to registrations on the PPSR, and 368,552 registrations discharged or removed from the PPSR.

At 31 March 2020, there were 10,183,829 current registrations on the PPSR. Motor vehicle was the most common collateral class with 4,887,103 registrations. This was 48.0% of total current registrations.

Commercial property was the most common type of collateral. At 31 March 2020, 7,758,382 current registrations on the PPSR were of this collateral type. This was 76.2% of total current registrations.
