Personal Property Securities Register (PPSR) statistics for the June quarter 2022

PPSR activity at a glance

PPSR searches

There were 2,884,779 searches conducted on the PPSR in the June quarter 2022. This was an increase of 1.1% compared to the June quarter 2021, when there were 2,852,226 searches on the PPSR.

Motor vehicle searches by serial number were the most common type in the June quarter 2022. They accounted for 52.2% of searches.

In 2021-22, there were 11,596,266 searches conducted on the PPSR. This was an increase of 9.8% compared to 2020-21, where there were 10,559,168 searches on the PPSR. Motor vehicles searches by serial number accounted for 49.2% of searches in 2021-22.

PPSR registrations

There were 524,880 registrations created on the PPSR in the June quarter 2022. This number rose by 0.9% compared to the June quarter 2021, when there were 519,954 registrations created.

In 2021-22, there were 1,972,094 registrations created on the PPSR. This was an increase of 3.2% compared to 2020-21, where there were 1,910,365 registrations created.

In the June quarter 2022, there were 368,914 amendments to registrations on the PPSR. There were 408,657 registrations discharged or removed from the PPSR.

At 30 June 2022, there were 10,103,465 current registrations on the PPSR. Motor vehicle was the most common collateral class with 4,684,294 registrations. This was 46.4% of total current registrations.

Commercial property was the most common type of collateral. At 30 June 2022, 7,927,662 current registrations on the PPSR were of this collateral type. This was 78.5% of total current registrations.
