Personal Property Securities Register (PPSR) statistics for the December quarter 2019

PPSR activity at a glance

PPSR searches

There were 2,466,599 searches conducted on the PPSR in the December quarter 2019. This was an increase of 0.2% compared to the December quarter 2018, when there were 2,461,210 searches on the PPSR.

Searches by serial number were the most common type in the December quarter 2019. They accounted for 52.1% of searches.

PPSR registrations

There were 509,316 registrations created on the PPSR in the December quarter 2019. This number fell by 5.5% compared to the December quarter 2018, when there were 538,876 registrations created.

The number of registrations created in the December quarter 2019 fell by 1.4% compared to the September quarter 2019.

In the December quarter 2019, there were 565,966 amendments to registrations on the PPSR, and 392,634 registrations discharged or removed from the PPSR.

At 31 December 2019, there were 10,157,983 current registrations on the PPSR. Motor vehicle was the most common collateral class with 4,885,838 registrations. This was 48.1% of total current registrations.

Commercial property was the most common type of collateral. At 31 December 2019, 7,721,172 current registrations on the PPSR were of this collateral type. This was 76.0% of total current registrations.
