The Australian Financial Security Authority (AFSA) released regional personal insolvency statistics for the December quarter 2019.

The Greater Sydney regions with the highest numbers of debtors entering personal insolvency were Mount Druitt (60), Wyong (52), Bankstown (46) and Campbelltown (NSW) (46). In the rest of New South Wales, they were Newcastle (46), Lower Hunter (30) and Maitland (30).

The Greater Melbourne regions with the highest numbers of debtors entering personal insolvency were Wyndham (59), Whittlesea - Wallan (51) and Casey - South (47). In the rest of Victoria, they were Ballarat (26), Wodonga - Alpine (22), Geelong (20) and Surf Coast - Bellarine Peninsula (20).

The Greater Brisbane regions with the highest numbers of debtors entering personal insolvency were North Lakes (53), Springfield - Redbank (51) and Ipswich Inner (43). In the rest of Queensland, they were Townsville (74), Ormeau - Oxenford (69) and Rockhampton (59).

The Greater Adelaide regions with the highest numbers of debtors entering personal insolvency were Salisbury (35), Playford (27) and Onkaparinga (26). In the rest of South Australia, they were Murray and Mallee (14), Outback - North and East (12), Barossa (10), Fleurieu - Kangaroo Island (10) and Limestone Coast (10).

The Greater Perth regions with the highest numbers of debtors entering personal insolvency were Wanneroo (87), Rockingham (61) and Swan (55). In the rest of Western Australia, they were Bunbury (31), Wheat Belt - North (16) and Mid West (14).

The Greater Hobart regions with the highest numbers of debtors entering personal insolvency were Hobart - North West (16) and Hobart - North East (12). In the rest of Tasmania, they were Launceston (18), Burnie - Ulverstone (17) and Devonport (12).

The Greater Darwin regions with the highest numbers of debtors entering personal insolvency were Palmerston (21) and Darwin Suburbs (10). In the rest of Northern Territory, it was Katherine (7).

The Australian Capital Territory regions with the highest numbers of debtors entering personal insolvency were Belconnen (21), Tuggeranong (15) and Gungahlin (14).
